Uncover the Secrets in Tombwater
Midwest Games and indie developers Max Mraz and Jake Wagner of Moth Atlas have released an updated demo for Tombwater during Steam Next Fest and confirmed that the full game launches on March 31 for PC via Steam. This 2D Western-inspired Soulslike blends the exploration and dungeon design of early The Legend of Zelda titles with the dark, oppressive tone of Bloodborne, challenging players to uncover secrets the town’s remaining residents desperately want to keep buried.
Tombwater delivers roughly 20 hours of gameplay. Players can choose from seven distinct classes, experiment with more than 50 firearms and melee weapons, and wield over 20 spells while exploring a sprawling map filled with grotesque enemies and nightmarish bosses.
In the demo, players arrive in the cursed town searching for a long-lost friend. As they push deeper into abandoned silver mines and twisted streets, they confront sanity-draining Eldritch horrors that threaten to consume both body and mind. Careful pacing and smart resource management prove essential. Choosing the right mix of firearms, melee weapons, and spells can determine survival in brutal encounters where every mistake carries weight.
The updated demo introduces new accessibility options for players who prefer fewer punishing “runbacks” and a more streamlined experience. Combat balancing improvements refine encounters, while new features such as a stagger mechanic, a “look ahead” camera option, and additional shop items expand gameplay depth.
Tombwater launches on March 31 for Windows PC via Steam. Players can wishlist the game now or dive into the demo during Steam Next Fest to test their resolve against the madness consuming the town.
