Untold Tales, Sneaky Box, and Kautki Cave have confirmed that Chickenauts, their indie roguelite shooter, will launch in Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026. Chickenauts throws players into a chaotic, companion-driven action roguelike adventure set aboard a sprawling, randomized alien mothership. Players fight their way through hostile territory with the help of heavily armed, genetically mutated chicken companions. As they progress, they rescue new chickens, equip them with powerful weapons, and enhance them with wild mutations that dramatically change how each run unfolds.
Each companion draws inspiration from pop culture and features unique abilities and combat styles. Players can stack multiple mutations during a run, transforming their feathery allies into outrageously overpowered forces of destruction. The mutation system encourages experimentation, letting players craft devastating builds that feel fresh every time.
Runs are designed to be fast, intense, and highly replayable. Compact, randomized rooms typically take less than a minute to clear, keeping the action tight and relentless. A wide variety of grotesque chicken-themed enemies and challenging bosses ensures that no two encounters feel the same. Randomized enemy spawns, upgrades, loot drops, and room layouts further enhance unpredictability.
Even in defeat, progress continues.
