Get Ready to Fly in Sparrow Warfare
Sparrow Warfare takes flight once again as Copenhagen-based studio NEON AURELIUS launches the third public playtest on Steam. This time, the developers are bringing a generous wave of new content to their mahjong-inspired roguelite deckbuilder. The latest test expands the experience while offering newcomers a clearer path into its systems.
The playtest introduces a full tutorial alongside two core playstyles from the base game, Way of Fire and Way of Song. Players can also take part in Daily Flights, which present fresh challenges every day through unique modifiers and shared global leaderboards. Each run offers a different strategic puzzle, encouraging experimentation and replay.
Sparrow Warfare perfectly blends classic mahjong rules with deckbuilding combat. Players form sets of three tiles, either matching tiles or sequential runs, to attack, defend, and free birds trapped inside the tiles themselves. Rescuing birds unlocks rewards that allow players to shape and refine their deck over time, turning each decision into a meaningful tactical choice.
A major highlight of the game is its wildtile system. By freeing birds, players gain access to powerful wildtiles that dramatically alter how tiles interact. With more than 150 wildtiles and over 100 birds to free, the game thrives on unexpected synergies and evolving strategies.
The full experience will have four playable characters known as the Ways, each offering a distinct approach to combat and deckbuilding. Players progress through six biomes with unique bosses, while the daily modes provide fresh challenges. With every run offering new possibilities, Sparrow Warfare emphasizes creativity, adaptability, and careful planning from start to finish.
