Vena Is Bringing a Roguelike City-Builder Experience to PC Next Year

Build the Best City in Vena

Vena is arriving in 2026 as a fresh twist on strategy games, created by solo developer loerting. What began as the winning entry of Godot Wild Jam 85 is growing into a complete release for PC through Steam, along with full support for Linux and Steam Deck. The project now stretches far beyond its jam origins and steps into a larger world filled with careful planning, shifting choices, and a quietly tense atmosphere.

The game places players in a desolate space where every decision influences the lifespan of a fragile settlement. Instead of the leisurely pace common in classic city builders, Vena pushes players to respond to an ever-changing environment. A dice-driven economy sits at the center of each run. Each roll provides the resources needed to expand, purchase new structures, and push deeper into the void. Factories, conduits, and other strange pieces appear in a rotating marketplace, encouraging players to shape an efficient path forward.

Vena

Vena takes inspiration from tabletop design, merging the spatial strategy of Carcassonne with the evolving structure of Balatro. The map unfolds through hex tiles that players place with precision, and every rotation and connection shapes production. Entire chains rise or collapse depending on how players assemble the grid. All activity feeds the Nexus, a central power-hungry presence that demands a steady flow of output. When players fail to meet those needs, the system fractures and sends them back to begin again with a stronger approach.

The full release of Vena is planned for the end of the first quarter of 2026. With its blend of city building, roguelike repetition, and tabletop charm, it aims to offer a thoughtful and atmospheric strategy experience on PC, Linux, and Steam Deck.
