Core Keeper Is Digging Its Way to Switch 2 in January 2026

Start Digging in Core Keeper

Pugstorm and Fireshine Games have unveiled Core Keeper – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, an expanded take on the underground sandbox adventure arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2026. Anyone who already owns the game on the original Switch receives this edition as a free upgrade. The new version taps into the stronger hardware to deliver sharper visuals, steadier lighting, richer shadows, smoother water details, and enhanced particle effects, all while aiming for a consistent 60FPS.

This edition brings native eight-player co-op, doubling the previous limit. Players on the original Switch can still join these larger sessions as long as the host is using a Switch 2. This will let the game’s world feel a bit more alive with friends tunneling together beneath the surface.

The Switch 2 version is launching on the same day as the Void & Voltage Update. This update is free and will be available on every platform. It opens a fresh biome called Breaker’s Reach, a space shaped for danger and discovery, complete with new foes and the towering robotic boss S.A.H.A.B.A.R. The update deepens the game’s rhythm with explosive gear, high-energy tools, and a range of automation-focused additions.

Players can wield new weapons such as the Flamethrower and Minigun. And then work their way toward crafting the Advanced Automation Table. This unlocks tools designed to make underground operations more efficient. Farms can grow busier through machines like the Robot Farm Arm and Seed Extractor. While collectors, shredders, conveyors, and other mechanical helpers give players room to design intricate automated networks.

Core Keeper is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition set to arrive on January 28, 2026.
