Broken Ranks Just Received Its Trials of the Lodge Update

A New Challenge Awaits in Broken Ranks

Broken Ranks expands its world with Trials of the Lodge, a roguelite-inspired mode that adds a fresh rhythm to the turn-based MMORPG. Available to players level 35 and above, the update introduces a faster-paced and more unpredictable experience designed to break away from familiar weekly routines.

Trials of the Lodge centers on repeatable runs built entirely around randomness. Arena layouts, enemy encounters, modifiers, and rewards shift with every attempt. This keeps players alert and forces them to make tactical decisions on the fly. After each victory, players choose how to proceed, shaping their run step by step. The mode supports both solo and party play and is split into five level brackets, making it accessible across different stages of progression.

Each arena always features an opponent, but encounters often include additional twists such as buffs, debuffs, special effects, shops, or unique rewards that influence strategy. According to the developers, the goal was to create an experience that remains engaging over time rather than something completed once and left behind.

A major highlight of the update is a new progression system tied directly to the Trials. Even unsuccessful runs grant aithars, a special currency used to unlock permanent character enhancements. These upgrades apply both within the mode and across the wider game. Among them are Infusions, a new enhancement type that allows players to strengthen a stat they currently consider their weakest.

The update also introduces the Aspect system, which assigns specific traits to stronger enemies. Over time, players can improve their effectiveness against particular enemy types, adding another layer of long-term growth.

Entries to the Trials reset weekly, with separate limits for solo and party runs. Alongside experience and psychoexperience, players can earn rare equipment, synergetics, and useful utility items, encouraging regular experimentation and mastery.
