The Devil’s Due Brings Its First Public Demo to Steam With Fresh Gameplay Reveal

offerEscape From Hell in The Devil’s Due

Norwegian studio Games People Play has released the first public demo of The Devil’s Due, its cheating-heavy poker roguelite, now live on Steam. A new gameplay trailer also premiered during the OTK Games Expo, giving players a clear look at the game’s chaotic poker battles and its playful take on Hell.

The demo introduces the first two layers of the underworld. It offers a chance to test early cheats, trinkets, and the game’s distinctive combat. After losing your soul in a disastrous poker match with the Devil, escaping means outplaying monsters shaped by the seven deadly sins. You build hands to attack, use card values to defend, and twist the rules in every duel.

Cheating is central to survival. Players can sneak in hidden cards, boost values, sabotage enemy hands, and perform tricks to tilt each battle. The challenge is pushing your luck without raising so much suspicion that Hell strikes back. Between encounters, the demo includes shops ready to be scammed. Some shrines offer unholy upgrades. Bold players can also take part in minigames for awesome opportunities. Designer Jack Kristoffersen describes the game as poker expanded with an entire suitcase of absurd cheating tools, encouraging hands no casino would ever permit.

With Monty Python-inspired animation, a tactile interface, and a steady stream of new relics and cheats to discover, The Devil’s Due offers a lighthearted and mischievous approach to roguelite strategy. The first public demo presents a confident introduction to the game’s mix of poker, risk-taking, and devilish creativity. So, dive right into it to witness what awaits deeper in Hell.
