Step Into a Cursed Forest in Fearwoods
The Steam page for Fearwoods, a dark cooperative survival horror game, is now live. Developed by a three-person independent studio of the same name, Fearwoods invites players into a cursed forest where light and silence are the only defenses against what lurks in the dark. This marks the studio’s debut project, now available for wishlisting on Steam.
Built using Unreal Engine 5, Fearwoods promises realistic lighting, an unsettling atmosphere, and a living forest that shifts with every step. Players enter a nightmare where sound can betray their position and light can either save them or draw the creature closer. The developers describe it as a game about trust, survival, and the fragile line between fear and empathy. “Fearwoods is born out of our passion for horror,” the team explained. “It’s a story about a demon and how thin the line between fear and compassion can be. We want players to decide for themselves – will they flee or try to understand the monster?”

Designed for three-player co-op, the game emphasizes teamwork and restraint. Each player carries a light source that acts as both weapon and guide, but illumination comes with risk. Darkness conceals players but strengthens the monster’s senses, forcing tough choices between safety and progress. As players venture deeper, they uncover Aveline’s journal fragments, broken GPS devices, and cryptic traces of the demon, blurring the truth behind the horror.
A playable demo is coming soon, followed by Early Access to refine the experience with community feedback. The full version of Fearwoods is planned for release in the first quarter of 2026, with console versions for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, alongside macOS and Linux support in development.
