Try Eclipse Breaker Right Now
Jorge Rodríguez, a solo developer, is bringing his passion project, Eclipse Breaker, to Steam Next Fest, marking a significant milestone in his journey. This turn-based roguelite blends real-time combat with the nostalgia of PS1-era JRPGs, offering a unique fusion of strategy and action. He encourages players to try the demo and share feedback on whether it captures the old-school energy he aims to deliver.
The Steam Next Fest demo immerses players in a 90s-inspired roguelite world, where combat combines the classic ATB system reminiscent of Final Fantasy with the speed and intensity of modern action games. Timing is key: perfectly parry to counter, dodge to survive, and chain moves strategically to regain control over the battlefield.
Between runs, players unlock new gear and recruit companions, who influence combat tactics and add depth to each encounter. The demo offers a glimpse into the fractured, long-forgotten world, testing reflexes and strategic thinking while hinting at the larger adventure to come.
This latest demo expands on the previous version with several updates. Two new elemental zones, Earth and Lightning, introduce fresh enemy patterns and hazards, complementing the Fire and Water biomes. The developer has refined combat pacing, allowing players to dodge every attack and anticipate moves that were previously un-parryable. They overhauled the in-game economy to speed up progression, and new mini-objectives now unlock characters based on each player’s playstyle.
In addition to the demo, Rodríguez released Eclipse Breaker Boss Rush, a free standalone mode on Steam. Designed for quick, intense sessions, it pits players against every boss consecutively, catering to leaderboard enthusiasts and mastery runs. This mode serves both as a preview of the game’s combat depth and a challenging, adrenaline-fueled experience for players seeking immediate action.
