Dusty Box has unveiled the announcement trailer for its debut title, Cult of Blood, today. The game immerses players in a hidden village dominated by a sinister blood cult, where every choice carries the risk of survival or of becoming the final sacrifice in a priestess’s ritual to ascend as a goddess.
The announcement trailer paints a chilling picture of fog-laden streets, candlelit chambers, and swampy ruins, seamlessly blending cinematic storytelling with tense gameplay. Players must navigate desperate melee encounters, scarce ammunition, and careful resource management, all under fixed camera angles reminiscent of classic survival horror. This evokes the dread of early Resident Evil titles while introducing ritualistic horrors unique to the game.
Tension and decision-making lie at the heart of Cult of Blood. Healing is rare, encounters are brutal, and each step could be fatal. Players face grotesque enemies, scavenge for resources, and collect blood souls to upgrade weapons or acquire new gear. The journey through the village gradually escalates toward a climactic confrontation with the cult’s queen, testing both skill and strategy.
The narrative follows a police officer investigating unsettling reports in a village seemingly frozen in time. What begins as a routine inquiry quickly descends into terror as the officer confronts a cult devoted to a priestess seeking divine ascension. The villagers, stripped of their souls, are bound to the cult’s will, creating a nightmare both human and supernatural. Inspired by true events yet reimagined through the lens of dark fantasy, the story explores the struggle between light and darkness, compelling players to either destroy the cult or succumb to its horrific rituals.
Cult of Blood is currently in development and will release on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox next year.
