Witness the Struggle in Dying Light: The Beast
The road to launch for Dying Light: The Beast continues with a brand new video, offering a closer look at both the heart and the action of the game. The footage highlights Kyle’s emotional struggles, the breathtaking open world of Castor Woods, and the fluid blend of parkour, traversal, and brutal combat that make the experience so immersive.
The developers have placed a strong emphasis on refining the gameplay to make this the most realistic and intense entry. Parkour has been overhauled to feel grounded and authentic. A new physics system removes the floatiness of earlier titles. Players can scale nearly any surface and are free to experiment with multiple paths, pushing exploration to new heights. Stamina no longer restricts climbing, though sharp observation remains essential for tackling the most difficult routes. With more than a hundred new animations for Kyle, including seventeen unique edge climbing moves, every action feels purposeful and believable.
Combat, meanwhile, has been reimagined to deliver raw physicality. Weapon strikes now carry precise weight, with swing and stop timings tuned to maximize impact. The upgraded physics engine ensures hits land with force, combining active ragdolls and short animations for realistic reactions. Human enemies fight back with smarter AI, employing up to twenty-two tactical strategies and using cover to their advantage. Damage modeling has also advanced, allowing destruction of multiple body parts and doubling the number of visible wounds, making every encounter brutal and visceral.
For a deeper dive into these changes, the new developer diary features insights from Technical Game Director Kacper Kowalczuk, Senior Animator Marcin Bahryn Kamiński, and Franchise Director Tymon Smektała, who share even more details about shaping Dying Light: The Beast.
