A Milestone for Sky: Children of the Light
Thatgamecompany is celebrating the sixth anniversary of Sky: Children of the Light with a special live event: the first-ever Sky Creator Awards. This one-night-only in-game ceremony honors standout player-made content across ten categories, spotlighting the talent and creativity within the Sky community.
The event takes place on August 15 at 6 p.m. PT, live from Sky’s cinema, an expansive in-game venue capable of hosting thousands of players together on a single server. Winners will be revealed during the broadcast, with developers from thatgamecompany presenting the awards. Two major accolades, the Sky Community Award and Content of the Year, highlight the evening. Award recipients will also have the chance to accept their trophy and deliver a live message to the audience.
Since its launch in 2019, Sky: Children of the Light has surpassed 270 million downloads and built a global community of creators. The Sky Creator Awards continue the game’s legacy of ambitious in-game events, following memorable moments like the record-breaking AURORA concert and leading into the debut of Sky: The Two Embers Part 1, streaming exclusively in-game from July 21.
The celebration extends beyond the ceremony. Starting July 7, Aviary Village will become a festive hub with swimming, dancing, and parading. Ahead of the awards, the cinema will run 24/7 programming, including behind-the-scenes insights, developer messages, trivia, and a look back at six years of Sky.
Players can also look forward to a pre-show experience with live performances, creator meet-ups, and a detailed schedule outlining how to join the festivities.
