Pioneers of Pagonia Releases Major Economy Update Ahead of Full Launch

Welcome to Pioneers of Pagonia

Envision Entertainment, the award-winning studio behind Pioneers of Pagonia, has released a major economy update for the Early Access medieval fantasy city builder. This follows two quality-of-life updates earlier in 2025 and comes ahead of the full 1.0 launch, planned for the second half of the year on Steam. The complete version will feature a full story campaign written by German fantasy author Janika Hoffmann.

The new update adds eight buildings and introduces an alternative starting scenario. Players begin with only a few units and no supplies, encouraging new strategies. They can now craft essential tools like axes and spears, helping new players learn settlement building while offering experienced players a fresh challenge. Single-player mode now includes four different landing teams, and co-op mode offers two enhanced team options.

The update also introduces a new unit, the Pioneer, bringing the game’s title to life. The developers rebalanced several economic systems and added a new progress overview, which lets players track their milestones more easily. The food system has been improved, map generation has been refined, and terrain visuals have received upgrades.

Before the full release, Envision Entertainment plans to launch another major update focused on map creation. Players will gain access to a map editor with extensive design tools and the ability to share and play community-made maps directly in-game.

Pioneers of Pagonia received funding from the German games grant, supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. If you haven’t checked out this unique city builder, now is the perfect time to dive into it.
