Start Mining In Gemporium
Merge Conflict Studio has announced that Gemporium, the cozy gem mining and shop management sim, will launch on Steam on August 7. The release date was revealed during the Secret Sauce Showcase with offbrand games, where viewers also got a look at a charming new trailer and a short behind-the-scenes dev diary.
In Gemporium, players take on the role of an anxious mole left in charge of their Grandmole’s gem shop while she heads off on vacation. What starts as a quiet business venture quickly becomes a juggling act as you uncover a troubling surprise: Grandmole left behind a heap of unpaid debts. With a Loan Shark visiting regularly to collect, you will need to mine precious stones, refine them, and sell them to demanding customers, all while trying to stay afloat.
As the shop’s reputation grows, new customers arrive with specific requests. Fulfilling them boosts your standing and expands your budding gem empire. Time management becomes key as you balance mining, refining, and customer service.
Gemporium began as a month-long development experiment focused on building a more sustainable and compact workflow. The team behind the game released a demo after the first sprint and has steadily refined the game ever since. They have also clearly stated that they did not use any generative AI in its development
With its mix of charm, strategy, and lighthearted pressure, Gemporium offers a cozy take on entrepreneurship with a few underground twists. Keep an eye out for its Steam debut on August 7.
