Welcome To Forgotten 23
Solo indie game developer KovalGames, in collaboration with indie.io, has released Forgotten 23, a narrative sci-fi adventure now available on Steam for USD 12.99, with a limited-time 20 percent launch discount. Check out the official launch trailer below to get a glimpse of the mysterious journey ahead.
Set aboard a malfunctioning research station orbiting Proxima Centauri b, Forgotten 23 begins with engineer Max Novak responding to a mysterious distress call. Upon arrival, he finds the crew missing, the logs corrupted, and an eerie AI waiting. Moments later, the station begins a catastrophic descent, and just as impact seems inevitable, time resets. Trapped in a 23-minute loop, Max must uncover the truth behind the station’s failure and its missing personnel.
Gameplay revolves around exploration, environmental puzzles, and system repair, with each loop offering new information and shifting challenges. Players must adapt, gather clues, and utilize limited resources to keep the station intact for a little longer. With no combat and no obvious enemy, the focus is on strategy, discovery, and persistence.
The game offers a haunting and atmospheric experience, drawing influences from the works of Stanisław Lem. It explores themes of memory, resilience, and the cost of knowledge through a uniquely Polish lens.
Developer Lucas, the solo creator behind KovalGames, shares that the project is deeply personal, developed over years of late nights, and even features 2D art from his daughter, a game design student.
Forgotten 23 is available now for PC in English and Polish. The loop has begun, and the countdown is on.
