Stop Pet Exploitation In Blendkins
TRINAC Studio has released Blendkins in Early Access, now available on Itch.io for $4.59. It will also be arriving soon on Steam. At first glance, the game draws players in with its colorful, Pokémon-style visuals. But beneath its charming surface lies a sharp commentary on wildlife trafficking and the commodification of exotic animals.
Blendkins places players in two contrasting roles, one as a poacher capturing wild creatures for illegal trade, and the other as a buyer influenced by social media trends. This dual perspective highlights the complexity of the issue, prompting players to consider the ethical implications of such practices.
Gameplay combines exploration, management mechanics, and narrative-driven choices. The current Early Access build offers a solid starting point, featuring multiple habitats, three distinct Blendkins species, and a consequence system that reinforces the impact of the player’s decisions.
Despite its serious themes, the game remains engaging, utilizing its cute art style to enhance the emotional impact rather than diminish it. TRINAC Studio has also laid out plans for future updates, which will expand the world with additional creatures, new hunting mechanics, and improved visuals.
“We want people to have fun, but also to think,” says Caique Ferreira, the game’s director. “Blendkins isn’t just about ‘catching animals’ – it’s about understanding the environmental impact of this trade.” The game has already drawn attention for its unique approach, blending engaging gameplay with digital activism.
With its unique blend of charm and critique, Blendkins offers more than just entertainment. It invites players to think critically about the real-world consequences of their in-game actions.
