An Epic Tale Awaits in Blood Message
NetEase Games and 24 Entertainment’s Studio have announced their latest project, Blood Message. It is a cinematic, story-driven action-adventure currently in development for PC and consoles. Built on Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced with proprietary tools, Blood Message marks NetEase’s first AAA single-player title. The game blends visceral survival combat with the depth of Eastern storytelling.
Set during the twilight of the Tang Dynasty, Blood Message follows a nameless messenger and his young son as they embark on a perilous 3,000-li (roughly 1,000-mile) journey back to Chang’an, the empire’s capital. Players are thrust into a brutal world torn by rebellion. In this age, survival means enduring deadly deserts, remote wilderness, and the violence of war.
The story unfolds as part of the Dunhuang uprising, placing players in the heart of a righteous resistance. With the fate of their homeland hanging by a thread, the father and son must navigate a landscape shaped by shifting loyalties and ancient traditions. Through this lens, the game explores themes of duty, family, and sacrifice.
Blood Message promises a rich, historically rooted experience, drawing heavily on the customs, culture, and turmoil of the late Tang Dynasty in China. With its grounded narrative, immersive combat, and richly detailed world, the game sets out to deliver a gripping odyssey of loyalty and endurance in the face of overwhelming odds.
