Solo indie developer Tomasz Kaye has announced that Axe Ghost will officially launch on Steam for both Windows and Mac on June 2, 2025. Ahead of the release, players can dive into the action early with a free demo, now available on the platform. A new release date trailer offers a preview of the game’s fast-paced, strategic battles.
Axe Ghost is a brutal, turn-based tactical experience where players must outmaneuver a relentless horde of monsters. Each short run lasts around 20 minutes. It challenges players to make the most of the cards in hand, which allow for pushing, swapping, cloning, slicing, freezing, and more. The goal is to control the battlefield, stack enemy monsters into tight groups, and eliminate them for maximum score.
The game features a daily leaderboard, encouraging players to optimize each move. Extra challenges come in the form of optional Quests, which add constraints but multiply scores for those who take the risk. Coins earned during a run can be spent to play additional cards at crucial moments. This offers a lifeline in difficult situations.
A central challenge lies in defeating Lord Garnemar, a fearsome boss. He can only receive damage when matching monsters surround him on all four sides. The pressure builds as time ticks down and deadly robots begin flooding the board, forcing players to act quickly and strategically.
With its unique mechanics and replayable format, Axe Ghost invites players to return daily, aiming to climb the leaderboard and master its ever-changing tactical puzzle.
