The Novice: Animal Kingdom drops players into a savage wilderness where survival is earned one wave at a time. In this gritty, fast-paced roguelike, the line between man and beast begins to blur as players battle through escalating attacks from wild animals while rising through the ranks of an adventurer’s guild.
Inspired by modern roguelikes like Vampire Survivors, The Novice trades stylized visuals for a grounded, realistic look built in Unreal Engine. The result is a tense and immersive experience set in a world that feels harsh and unforgiving.
Each run begins with the basics. Players fight off increasingly aggressive animals that evolve in speed, tactics, and numbers. As they survive, they move up the guild’s F-to-A ranking system, unlocking new abilities, passive upgrades, and maps along the way.
