Death Howl Officially Announced for Steam

Help a Grieving Mother in Death Howl

Developer The Outer Zone and publisher 11 bit studios are delighted to announce their upcoming title Death Howl for PC. This game tells a moving story of grief, healing, and strength, brought to life in an atmospheric soulslike deck-builder. Starting Monday, you can try the demo on Steam, launching alongside this year’s 11 bit studios Publisher Sale on Steam.

In Death Howl, you play as Ro, a grieving mother journeying through a mystical, stone-age Nordic realm. Her goal is to find and bring back her lost son. Along the way, you’ll face relentless spirits in grid-based, turn-driven battles that test your strategy and adaptability. To overcome powerful foes and fierce bosses, you’ll craft and refine your deck, with each new realm introducing unique cards and mechanics. Shamanic totems provide extra enhancements, giving you the tools needed to face the dangers ahead.

The game shifts away from run-based gameplay and brings deck-building into an open, explorable world. Furthermore, eerie biomes like the Forest of Howling Shadows and the Meadows of Delusion fill the place. As you explore, you’ll discover new cards to craft, uncover pieces of Ro’s story about love and loss, and piece together the forgotten lore of this mysterious spiritual realm.

“The loss of a loved one is universal—an inevitable part of the human experience. We believe our narrative approach will resonate with players of all kinds. We’ve introduced a fresh take on the deck-builder genre, combining it with soulslike exploration and adding compelling lore to leave a lasting impact on anyone who joins Ro on her journey,” reflects Malte Burup, the Director, Artist, and Writer for Death Howl at The Outer Zone.
