Envision Entertainment has announced that the Magic Update for Pioneers of Pagonia will be coming out this year as a part of Early Access. It is the fourth extensive content update for their medieval fantasy city builder. In this new update, players will encounter playful challenges with the “Cursed,” several magical combat units, explore expanded production chains, and much more.
The magic update is hitting open beta on Steam at the end of October. Visitors to PAX West 2024 can play it early at the Envision Entertainment booth in the Arch Expo Hall, Level 4, #634. If you’re eager to jump in, the game is currently available in Early Access on Steam for $29.99/€29.99.
The Magic Update will also make it super easy for new players to jump into the game. Now, as you start building your first settlements, you’ll get quick video guides that show you the ropes and explain key game mechanics. Some of these handy clips will arrive in September as part of a Quality-of-Life update, so you can start mastering the game in no time.
You’ll face a new threat: the “Cursed,” enemies who twist nature to their will. Only skilled magic users can break their spells and prevent their attacks through portals. Warlocks and sorceresses must use special gear to combat the Cursed. With new resources, buildings, units, and production chains available, you’ll need to plan carefully. This adds an exciting tactical layer for strategy enthusiasts.
The Magic Update adds a new explorer unit: the treasure hunter, who uncovers hidden riches and artifacts. Treasure maps can be found or bartered for. The male treasure hunter is voiced by Maurice Weber and the female by Ovilee May. Players can also choose specific voices, including SodaPoppin, Gronkh, and Hand of Blood.
