Lil Guardsman Gets Even Funnier With “LOL Guardsman Pt. 2”

Laugh a Lil More

The comedic value of their game is already demonstrated. Yet, today, Indie Game Developer Hilltop Studios and Versus Evil are delving back into the the world of their point-and-click adventure, Lil Guardsman. This time, the second video in their “LOL Guardsman” series will tackle how the game’s narrative uses comedy. In fact, where the first focused a great deal on dialogue this new video will dive into how the developers combine narrative and comedy. Once again, Narrative Director Scott Christian, Writer Matt Bernard, and Writer Jeremy Lapalme are back in the drivers seat. Of course, they discuss the game’s narrative and its relation to comedy once more.

Lil Guardsman

Lil Guardsman invites players to a point-and-click deduction narrative. Playing as Lil, the titular character, allows players to get into all sorts of comedic situations. For instance, fulfilling her father’s role as guardsman presents her with a host of interesting characters. Who said protecting the city can’t be funny? Importantly, some of these may prove to be nonsensical or downright hilarious. Yet, it isn’t only in visual or dialogue that comedy seems to emerge in the game.

The developers of Lil Guardsman describe how the overall writing, including dialogue of course, is written to convey comedy. For instance, in the “LOL Guardsman Part 2” video the developers discuss how they write punchlines, and even intertwine the comedy with the storyline. Check out the new video below.

Lil Guardsman is releasing later at a later date on PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox Series consoles.
