CD Projekt Red to Release Enhanced Package Including Phantom Liberty Expansion on December 5, 2023
Exciting news has emerged for Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts as CD Projekt Red announces the impending release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on December 5, 2023. This edition, akin to a Game of the Year or Complete Edition, bundles the main game with the Phantom Liberty expansion, offering players a comprehensive and immersive gaming experience. The release is set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC platforms.
A notable aspect of this release is that it marks the first time Cyberpunk 2077 will be available in physical form under the current generation banners for consoles. Previously, only a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the game was available physically. It’s worth mentioning that the Ultimate Edition will not be accessible on these older consoles, aligning with the absence of the Phantom Liberty expansion for them.
CD Projekt Red’s global community director, Marcin Momot, took to X/Twitter to confirm the details surrounding the physical editions. For the Xbox Series X version, Phantom Liberty will be included on the disc, while the PS5 version will feature the base Cyberpunk 2077 on disc and provide Phantom Liberty as a download code.
In an exclusive conversation with IGN, a CD Projekt Red spokesperson shed light on the rationale behind these variations, stating, “The Xbox Series X box contains three discs with the base game and expansion. The PlayStation 5 box includes a game disc with Cyberpunk 2077 and a code for the expansion to be redeemed in the PlayStation Store. The PC version comes with a GOG code for both the base game and the expansion.”
The differentiation in the inclusion of Phantom Liberty in the Ultimate Edition is attributed to technical requirements specific to each gaming platform, ensuring an optimal and seamless experience for players across diverse gaming environments.
