The Return of Star Ocean The Second Story
Square Enix has finally launched the 2.5D remake of the highly acclaimed second installment of the Star Ocean series. Star Ocean The Second Story R is now available in both physical and digital editions on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 consoles. Moreover, you can purchase the digital edition for PC via Steam.
Star Ocean The Second Story R is a revitalized version of the popular 1998 RPG. It has totally revamped with a charming 2.5D aesthetic, rearranged soundtracks, difficulty settings, and other improvements.
Kei Komaki, the game’s Producer said, “When we first announced the game, the fan response we heard from around the world was incredibly exciting.”
He also added, “Throughout the development of Star Ocean The Second Story R, we often found new ways to appreciate the original game, and seeing others share that passion with us was amazing. Now that the game has launched, we are thrilled that players will be able to see our full vision – a reimagining made for fans new and old.”
The story follows Claude, a Federation officer in search of a way home after being transported to an underdeveloped planet. He encounters a girl named Rena by chance, and they go on a quest to save her people. This has been foretold by an ancient prophecy. Players can select between Claude and Rena at the beginning of the game. And their choices will determine their perspectives and potential allies.
The game features a fast-paced, real-time combat with a deep skill system. There is also a feature called Private Actions that will allow players to develop relationships with their party members. This will further allow them to unlock multiple endings.
