The Mobius Machine Taking Metroidvania to Twin Stick, 2024

An Alien World Awaits

Metroidvanias are a genre that always finds ways to innovate. For instance, a game may take a new approach to the graphics, the controls, the gameplay loop, or any other number of things. Yet, sometimes a Metroidvania aims to tackle a few of these concepts. Today, Madruga Works announced that their twin-stick Metroidvania, The Mobius Machine, is releasing on March 1st, 2024. Combining the classic 2D approach to the genre with 3D environments, the game invites players to an interconnected alien world. An Alpha trailer grants players an early look at the world and its unique art style.

The Mobius Machine

The Mobius Machine allows players to step into a unique Metroidvania. The alien world of the game is not separated into levels. In fact, one of the most unique aspects of the game is that it allows players to seamlessly move between different environments. Playing as an explorer, players will traverse a brutal and unforgiving alien world. Here they will encounter horrific local fauna, infected colonists, and murderous machines. Importantly, players can have two weapons equipped at a time, shooting in any direction, to defend themselves.

Of course, as players explore this world, they are able to unlock new blueprints and upgrades for their weapons. Interestingly, The Mobius Machine’s weapon system allows players to discover a playstyle that works for them. Check out the Alpha trailer for a glimpse of the world that awaits.
