Help Lecia Escape From Norwood
The indie developer Singular Works recently released their latest title Escape from Norwood for mobile devices, itch.io, and PC via Steam. The game was launched on 13 September 2023.
Escape from Norwood is a text adventure game. It combines 80’s text adventure imagination with 90’s point-and-click streamlined interactions. And a pinch of 00’s open world and 10’s forgiving gameplay to live a unique experience that feels both classic and modern.
The game takes place in a fantasy world where the only discrimination is based on the order of birth. Players control Lecia, a 13-year-old girl cursed with magic that does not fit within the five cardinal aelic callings. Lecia must hide from the guards and find a way to escape Norwood before the Empress arrives. She can use various magic spells which will help her throughout the journey.
It features a beautifully illustrated world with detailed 2D backgrounds. This is a rare sight in the text adventure genre, where most games rely on the player’s imagination to fill in the gaps. The game also offers a great deal of freedom to explore the world and solve puzzles. There are hundreds of items to interact with, and players can combine items in any way they want to create unexpected effects. This leads to a lot of experimentation and discovery.
Escape from Norwood has a well-written story with complex characters. Lecia is a compelling protagonist, and the supporting cast is just as well-developed.
