Reppin’ That Tile
This past weekend has been all about fighting games. Aside from the competitions, this is where game developers in the genre make their reveals and announcements. With Mortal Kombat 1 just around the corner, you bet NetherRealm Studios took this opportunity to show us the goods.
The new MK game is a fresh start for the series… again. While it is a clean slate, the classic characters we know and love are returning. This is an opportunity to reintroduce fighters from long ago. The Banished trailer brings back Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik.
The Mortal Kombat series has ninjas of every color. Reptile is the classic green ninja, though his appearance is definitely the most varied throughout the franchise. This iteration of the character can shift between a large reptilian creature and a human ninja.
Mortal Kombat 1 also brings back Ashrah, who has not been seen since Mortal Kombat: Ammegadon. She is a demon who has purged her heart of most of its evil. Ashrah made her debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception.

Havik has not been absent from the series as long as Ashrah, but fans are no less excited for him. Havik is of the Chaosrealm and has a very unusual fighting style. Many of his attacks involving maiming or dismembering himself to injure his opponents.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be coming out on September 19th for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
