Like a Dragon Gaiden Apparently Will Not Have a Physical Release

The Man Who Erased His Physical Library

There were almost too many games to count at Summer Games Fest last week. To avoid getting overloaded with gaming information, just take it one title at a time. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will be releasing their new game this year. Unfortunately for collector’s of physical games, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be skipping the discs.

To be clear, the ESRB will not be reviewing any physical edition of the game. This means that Western fans will not be able to get a physical copy locally. There are reports that Japanese players can get their physical game though. Importing those copies might be the only way to get one here in North America.

Some players have been voicing their displeasure by this move, but this trend might be sticking. Alan Wake 2 will also not have any physical copies, but that could change between now and release day.

If the digital-only Like a Dragon Gaiden doesn’t bother you, you could pre-order for bonus content. The Legendary Fighter Pack will be included as a pre-order bonus. It is unclear exactly what this content is, but the game will have 2 player local multiplayer. The description also suggests that there will be a caged-match fighting arena mode, where these fighters can be used.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be coming out on November 9th. It will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
