Two Things We Can’t Wait to Do in WWE 2K23’s MyGM Mode

WWE is well and truly on the Road to WrestleMania, the company’s biggest show of the year. This year, the event, which has been dubbed as ‘too big for just one night’ in recent years, will take place on the 1st and 2nd of April, and anticipation has already reached a fever pitch. The event will take place inside Inglewood’s 72,000 SoFi Stadium, and there are a number of storylines that are nearing their conclusion.

In recent years, WWE 2K has introduced a My Faction mode, which is their answer to EA Sports’ Ultimate Team, which features prominently in both the FIFA and Madden franchises. If you are someone that likes to play online roulette then you will love this game mode as it allows players to use real money to purchase loot boxes in an attempt to upgrade their online faction. From there, one can compete against gamers around the world online in an attempt to pick up the victory, which will earn you in-game prizes.

While My Faction is becoming a money-spinner for 2K Sports, it is MyGM Mode that we are focusing on today. Here are two things we can’t wait to do when we finally download WWE 2K23 on March 17th.

Ending Roman’s Reign

Since August 2020, the one man who has ruled the WWE is Roman Reigns. He returned to action back early in 2020 and immediately aligned himself with perennial bad guy Paul Heyman. Then, he won the Universal Championship from Bray Wyatt, and he has held the gold ever since.

That particular reign now stands at over 900 days, and if that wasn’t enough, he unified his title with Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship when he defeated the Beast Incarnate in the main event of last year’s WrestleMania. He defeated the former UFC heavyweight champion in the main event of Summer slam in August 2022 in an enthralling match that left fans wondering… who on earth can defeat the Tribal Chief?

Well, in real life, that question may well be answered on April 2nd. That’s when the Head of the Table will face off against 2023 men’s Royal Rumble match winner Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania. Many feel that the American Nightmare may well be the one to end it all, but it will be an impossible task with Reigns’ Bloodline in tow.

Roman’s real-life cousins Solo Sikioa, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso have helped their Tribal Chief retain his championship on numerous occasions throughout the last two and a half years. In recent weeks, however, they have encountered difficulties in the form of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. While Rhodes will face off with Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania night two, Zayn and Owens are expected to face off with the Undisputed Tag Team Champion Usos in the main event of night one.

No one knows which direction the company will head in at this point, however, in WWE 2K23’s MyGM Mode, we know exactly what we are going to do. Both Reigns and The Usos’ title reigns are set to come to an end. However, that will be easier said than done considering the fact that the reigning and defending Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has a perfect 99 out of 99 ratings. Good luck Cody.

The New Monday Night War

Throughout the late 1990’s WWE and its rival promotion, WCW, went head-to-head with their flagship shows, Monday Night Raw for the former and Monday Nitro for the latter. The duo was battling it out for rating supremacy with each company aiming to put the other out of business. In the end, it was Vince McMahon and his WWE that won the war but could a new war be just around the corner?

Back in 2019, the billionaire owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars football team Tony Khan, alongside professional wrestlers, Matt & Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, and Cody Rhodes formed All Elite Wrestling. Over the last four years, the company has signed a number of the planet’s greatest wrestlers, including Bryan Danielson (formerly known as Daniel Bryan in WWE) and CM Punk. The company isn’t yet ready to compete with WWE in real life, but in WWE 2K23 they can be.

One of the greatest aspects of previous WWE 2K games is community creation. Gamers can download anything from arenas to championship titles to professional wrestlers themselves, provided they have been created by someone else and uploaded to the database. Every year, there are a number of knights in shining armor who do the leg work, meaning that all you need to do is download all the necessary content, and boom, AEW can be turned into a promotion inside your universe.

What you do once you have set up AEW is entirely up to you. Do they invade Monday Night Raw, do they set up their own show on a Monday night, or do WWE strike the first blow and head over to AEW? Those decisions are in your hands
