Who Am I to Argue?
Sonic has had a difficult relationship with the third dimension. Many gamers were skeptical, and rightfully so, when shown Sonic Frontiers. When the game came out though, the reception was surprisingly positive. For every strange decision that was made, there was a redeeming aspect.
Now that players have their hands on it, there is more to look forward to for Sonic Frontiers. Earlier today, Sega released a roadmap for the foreseeable future. It includes a wide range of additions, all of which will be free of charge.
The first major update will include a Juke Box, Photo Mode, and Challenge Modes. If your ol’ pal Zane were to guess, the Juke Box would allow players to select the music for different areas at any time. The open world has a very calm sound, but might be more lively with other music. The Photo Mode is probably just what it sounds like. Challenge Modes appear to affect the digital Zones and boss fights.
The second update for Sonic Frontiers will have Sonic’s Birthday, the Open Zone Challenge, and a new Koco. Again, guessing, but Sonic’s Birthday and the Open Zone Challenge may be events for players to take part in. Adding new Kocos may be a way of pushing the limits of Sonic’s power and speed.
Update 3 looks to be the most interesting. This update will add more story content, which the base game is kind of light with. There will also be at least one additional playable character. The image may be a little misleading, but the possible characters to play as are Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and Sage.
Sonic Frontiers is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
