A blast from the past – do you remember these old-school original Xbox games?

One of the reasons why the X-Box has secured its place so firmly in gaming history is due to the long pedigree of quality consoles and games going back over 20 years. While you might still be awaiting delivery of your Series X, you’ve still got your X Box One to keep you going, or perhaps you prefer a bit of a blast from the past by dusting off your Xbox 360 – but you might not have considered taking a step back further than that.

It might take a trip up to the loft, or delving around on eBay if you haven’t got one, but the original Xbox is still available second-hand, and so are many of the classic games you can play on it. This article is going to take you on trip down memory lane to revisit (or maybe just visit) some of the reasons why the Xbox has grown to be such a strong brand.

Bestselling Xbox games

You could easily argue that the bestselling games are not always the best ones to play, but when you hear that Halo 2, and Halo CE top the list, you might think that this might be the one of the times where they are. While you are probably well acquainted with Master Chief’s later exploits, you might want to take look back at the first FPS adventures of John-117.

If that doesn’t float your boat and you were more of an RPG type, then Fable was probably a big favorite, and you know doubt carried on with Fable II and even Fable III on the 360. If you’ve never been The Hero of Oakvale, it might be that you are missing out on a large chunk of Xbox history.

It would be hard not to also mention games from the Star Wars franchise with Battlefront I and II, and Knights of the Old Republic adding to what was already a strong roster of games.

Sports games on the original Xbox console

Of course, it wasn’t all just about spaceships and fantasy, as any console always comes with more than its fair share of sports games that become the center of any group night in, and the banter that will surely follow. Nowadays, you might find that you’d be playing online, or looking at social media, trying to find no deposit bonus casinos in Australia or playing some other game on your mobile, but back then you’d all be sat around they TV watching the action.

There were the games that were based on US Sports like the NHL and NFL games (including Madden) that played quite well, and there were also several years of the Tiger Woods golf franchise, back when the only thing he was famous for was playing golf. However, original Xbox players had up until FIFA 07 to play the best-selling football game, although before playing now, you might have to quickly remind yourself who Edgar Davids, Ronaldinho and the ‘other’ Ronaldo are.
