TF International Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has tweeted out that he believes the PSVR2 is starting mass production as soon as the second half of 2022 in preparation for launch in the first quarter of 2023 with around 1.5 million headsets. He also adds that the device will include built-in cameras, which the first PSVR did not have.

“My latest supply chain check suggests that the assembler and several component providers of PS VR2 will start mass production with about 1.5M units shipments in 2H22. Sony may launch it in 1Q23, depending on the development schedule of PS VR2 game titles,” said Ming-Chi Kuo in a tweet.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions perfectly lines up with an earlier estimation from the CEO of Display Sully Cain Consultants, Ross Young. Back in April, he predicted that the new PlayStation VR2 will launch in 2023 due to a delay related to supply chains. Ross Young also believes that the new headset will be a  “hit” among consumers due to its new AMOLED displays.

PlayStation fans who are looking forward to any new updates regarding the new PlayStation VR will definitely want to tune into PlayStation’s upcoming State of Play. The new event is announced to include a sneak peek at “several games in development for PlayStation VR2”. It is set to air on PlayStation’s Twitch and Youtube accounts on June 2nd, at 3 pm Pacific and 6 pm Eastern time.
