Classic Adventure Comes To a New Gen

Welcome to the Oddworld partner. Developer Square One’s unique shooter, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, has come to new Xbox and PlayStation consoles seventeen years after its initial release. A press release about the game provides details on what makes Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath such a classic as well as its themes.

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath Xbox and PlayStation

A sci-fi twist on an old western classic. Oddworld places the player in the boots of Stranger. Stranger is a bounty hunter making his way across the wastelands of Western Mudos. As Stranger you will track down fugitives for bounty and decide how you deal with them. Either bring them in alive and kicking… Or send them straight to the grave with your “live” critter ammunition. However, there is more to Stranger than just bounty hunting. He carries a haunting secret with him that may unravel as you play. But, until that point, you need to make as much cold hard cash as possible. Stranger’s life may depend on it.

The HD version of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath boasts a ton of new features. Alongside 4K graphics at 60fps, it also includes the original 12 hours of story gameplay but with 5+ additional hours of side mission content.

As well as the obvious allure of gameplay. The press release makes sure to discuss some of the more deep themes of the game. The release explains that, “Stranger’s Wrath is an examination of timely philosophical themes such as the displacement of indigenous people, the privatization of natural resources, and the rising cost of health care without sacrificing fun.”

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is available on Xbox One, Series X/S, and PlayStation 4 and 5. Currently the game costs $19.99 on both platforms. So, what are you waiting for Strange? Explore Oddworld.
