Someone Solved One of Elden Ring’s Problems – But There’s no Workaround for the Downside
After experiencing a few hours of Elden Ring gameplay myself, I know I’ve been dissatisfied with the game’s framerate at times. And from how Elden Ring’s fans have been discussing the game, I know I’m not alone here. I’m so not-alone, that a mod has already been developed to solve this problem. But in that process, the mod’s got a few downsides that lock you out of some Elden Ring content, and could result in terms-of-service issues.
So first of all, what is this mod? Simply put, it unlocks the game’s framerate. Right now, it’s capped at 60fps, but a lot of PC systems are capable of taking that way higher – either maxing it out as far as their system will allow, or setting a new limit wherever the player wants. Here’s a link to a Github page, explaining everything you’d need to get yourself a copy of the mod. The process also involves disabling Elden Ring’s anti-cheat software, EasyAntiCheat – another straightforward process.
But what happens when you remove anti-cheat? Obviously the game’s not gonna give you access to big, public servers when you could be cheating. The game’s multiplayer functions will be kept minimal. And if you ever hop online, and Elden Ring’s servers detect a history of software modification, you might face consequences.
Fans of previous Souls games will be familiar with this system, it’s one From Software has used before. If you’re aware of how all that works, feel free to transplant that headspace directly into the area of your brain currently flooded with Elden Ring. If anything, it’ll welcome the familiarity.
