The Gunk Comes to Xbox Game Pass and Games Store
The brand new story-driven sci-fi exploration title, The Gunk, is out today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Announced in July at the Xbox Showcase, Thunderful’s is based on finding the source of a strange hypnotic substance that’s suppressing a mysterious planet’s ecosystem.
The story follows Rani, a space hauler who stumbles across a seemingly barren planet with her partner Becks as the duo search for scraps. The mysterious gunk covering this planet causes the partners to stop their search and turn their attention to finding the gunk’s source.
Therefore, this leaves many unanswered questions. What is the mysterious gunk and what happened to the ancient civilization that’s left only ruins behind? Because nobody is around, it is up to the duo to solve this mystery and save the planet.
The Gunk emphasizes exploration, encouraging players to explore this diverse alien world. The strange fascinating world features a variety of biomes ranging from rocky canyons to dense jungles and deep subterranean caves. So there is always something interesting to explore.
However, the gunk is quickly turning each of these environments barren, so Rani and Becks must work fast. Use Rani’s upgradeable goo-sucking power-glove to uncover the flourishing ecosystem suppressed by the gunk.
As players progress through the story, Rani will scan the world and add it to her logbook. This is where players can start to unravel the planet’s mystery.
