Konami’s eFootball Version 1.0.0 Update Officially Delayed Until 2022

Konami’s eFootball Version 1.0.0 Update Officially Delayed Until 2022

Pro Evolution Soccer was a popular series in football simulation and often stood toe to toe with its competitor, FIFA, as it sometimes provided a more realistic and authentic approach to the sport’s simulation. Earlier this year, Konami announced major changes to the franchise, namely that the game would become free to play with packs available for purchase and that it would be rebranded, eFootball. The change came as a surprise to many.

eFootball first launched on 30th September 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and mobile devices with cross-play and cross-save capabilities. Since then, Konami and eFootball have been unable to make much progress and have announced yet another delay for Version 1.0.0.

Although the idea of eFootball sounded great, in practice, many considered eFootball to be a flop as it was buggy and simply not fun. Konami has promised to make the required changes and put forward a respectable game following its initial launch, but today, the company has announced another setback. Via a release on its official eFootball Twitter, it was stated, “We would like to inform our players that the version 1.0.0 update scheduled for November 11th has been postponed until Spring 2022. Also, we are announcing the cancellation and automatic refunds of eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack pre-orders, which included items that could only be used in-game after the version 1.0.0 update.”

The release closed by stating, “We are working as hard as possible to deliver an experience that our players expect and deserve by Spring 2022. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience.”

Fans can still play eFootball today for free, but the poor launch has left many sorely disappointed.
