CD Projekt Red’s President Adam Kicinski Gives his Thoughts on the Future of the Company

Kicinski on Cyberpunk, Witcher and More!

CD Projekt Red has been in the news a lot lately thanks to a recent interview with Adam Kiciński, the studio’s president.  Kiciński gave a lot of insight on what we can expect from the studio in the coming year. One topic of discussion was the current state of the studio’s most recent title, Cyberpunk 2077.

cyberpunk 2077 very good game in the long run

It’s no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 bombed upon its initial release. The game was littered with so many bugs that Sony actually took it off of the PlayStation Store for a whopping six months. Despite having one of the worst launches in gaming history, CD Projekt Red has high hopes for the future of Cyberpunk 2077. The game recently received a slew of positive reviews on Steam after it went on sale for 50% off. The studio is also planning to release a big update in the first quarter of next year. Things could be looking up for Cyberpunk.

The interview didn’t exclusively focus on Cyberpunk though. Kiciński’s stance on CD Projekt Red possibly being acquired by a larger studio was also brought up. He made it very clear that the company will remain independent and has no interest in being acquired. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red is actually looking to acquire smaller studios of their own.

Another topic discussed in the interview was what the studio would be working on in the near future. Kiciński stated that the company will be strictly focusing on its two current properties Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher. There is currently little to no information available on what’s to come with The Witcher series. We do know that there is an update for next-gen consoles coming sometime next year. Some fans speculate that the next installment in The Witcher series won’t come out for a few years, but at least CD Projekt Red isn’t done with the series yet.
