New Real-World Aircraft to Join Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

Good Luck, Pilot!

Ace Combat represents a unique, faux-realistic take on the military sim genre – it’s got all the technical lingo and a hyper-realistic art style, but with all the superweapons and outlandish stunts, it feels right at home alongside some of the most ridiculous anime you can think of. And since the franchise’s 25 year anniversary is upon us, and Bandai Namco have come prepared with new content – some of which leans into Ace Combat’s signature style. Fans of the latest entry to the Ace Combat franchise can expect to see a new wave of DLC hitting their platform soon!

The next DLC package for Ace Combat 7 will feature three new aircraft: the F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III, the F-2A -Super Kai, and the MiG-35D Super Fulcrum. If you can’t quite put a face to those names, that’s totally fine. A new trailer released by Bandai Namco shows each jet in action! Each one takes on a very modern design, fitting right in with the scifi world of Strangereal.

On top of that, the DLC also shows off a bunch of new skins for players to use, ranging from some stellar, realistic-looking paint jobs to Red. Yes, just a massive glowing ball of red. Given how silly the Ace Combat world can be, your ADFX-01 will feel right at home shooting down enemy aircraft in its new Red. There’s also a few skins that reference Ace Combat’s story, like the Razgriz skin for the F-22A Raptor and the X-02S Strike Wyvern.

This DLC will be making its way to all Ace Combat 7 platforms: Playstation 4, PSVR, the whole modern Xbox family of consoles, and Steam. An exact release date was not given, though you can expect them to show up sometime in the fall of this year.
