Dark Pictures Anthology Returns
Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. Ever since Until Dawn, I have been interested in this series, but most of the games just haven’t lived up to Until Dawn. They are still a fun time, however, and I’m sure this one will be no different.
In the shadow of the Zagros mountains, a US military unit comes under fire from Iraqi forces. The resulting firefight causes an earth tremor where both sides fall into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. With all communication severed, our protagonists are trapped and must figure out a way to escape – unaware that something ancient and evil has awakened in the shadows and is hungry for blood.
There does seem to be a lot more guns this time around than usual, but I’m sure the formula is the same. Make decisions to try and keep as many of the cast alive as you can manage. Thankfully, these games have figured out they are best played with friends. You can play 2-player online co-op or a 5-player couch movie mode.

That’s where these games really excel. They are cheesy horror movies that are fun to go through with a friend and laugh at all the cheese.
If there weren’t so many games I’m interested in this year, this would be an instant buy for Halloween. As it stands, it is still one I might pick up. I really love horror movies and Until Dawn. The Dark Pictures Anthology hasn’t been filled with great games, but they have all been good fun so far.
House of Ashes is set to launch on October 22 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. It is the perfect game to pick up for a spooky time for Halloween.
