Event Includes Discounts, Giveaways, Merch, and Fan Polls
Nearly twenty years after the release of the original Disgaea game, the isometric turn-based tactical JRPG franchise has finally hit 5 million sales worldwide. In celebration of the event, there are a few events and huge sales available for the series.
For those who don’t know of the series, Disgaea is an over-the-top and humorous tactical RPG focused on grinding and ridiculously OP characters. Developed by Nippon Ichi, the first game, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, was released in January of 2003. The latest game, Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny, was released worldwide for the Switch this year in June, while the latest non Switch exclusive game is Disgaea 5. The franchise has spawned game spin-offs, anime, manga, and more.
In celebration of this sale milestone, Nichi Ippon President Sohei Niikawa announced a few big events. First, there is a major sale on all five Disgaea games available on Steam at the moment. The sale is Disgaea’s largest yet if you are looking to get into the series: Disgaea 4 Complete+ and Disgaea 5 Complete are having their lowest recorded sales ever at a 50 percent discount and a 70 percent discount, respectively. The Steam sale will end on September 17th, and Disgaea 6 will not be on sale on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
In addition to the sale, Nichi Ippon announced a poll to select the top five fan-favorite characters to determine future DLC and returning characters. A retweet contest for signed artwork and some streams were also announced. Finally, there is new merch and a sale on Disgaea merch.
