Splitgate Confirmed to Get Next-Gen Upgrade for PS5 & Xbox Series X

1047 Games CEO Has Confirmed Splitgate is Getting a Next-Gen Upgrade

Splitgate is officially getting a next-gen upgrade, as confirmed by 1047 Games in a quick developer Q&A session. Many new games have been purposely developed to take advantage of the new and improved hardware showcased in today’s next-gen consoles, and Splitgate is now joining the club.

We are going to do it,” said CEO Ian Proulx. “We intended to have the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions out already. It has just been a matter of having 110% focus on servers as much as possible.”

Although Proulx declined to give any specifics to this upgrade, he did admit that there are some “obvious things” that just about all new games have been doing that their team will “explore doing.” This has led some fans to speculate that the Splitgate next-gen upgrade will be including an improved frame rate, in addition to a possible resolution upgrade. After all, the Xbox Series X and PS5 both support 4K resolution.

The dev team’s intent on focusing on Splitgate servers was brought on by the sudden increase of new players to the game. The Splitgate open beta, which was the first time that the game became available to console users, opened its doors to more players, taking its servers to their breaking point. 1047 Games then secured an additional $10 million in emergency funding just so they could upgrade their servers and hire more engineers for the project. Since then, Splitgate’s focus was on making sure that each and every one of those who wanted to try the game actually had the chance to do so.

These Splitgate next-gen developments meant that 1047 had to delay the game’s official release until later in August. Splitgate, with the next-gen upgrade, will be launched on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
