The Skate Franchise is Finally Coming to PC with Skate 4

More Than Decade Long Wait for PC Gamers to End

The upcoming Skate 4 release, referred to by EA as simply “skate.”, will be available on PC upon release. Announced June of last 2020, this newest release would end the franchise’s console exclusive history, opening the series to a much wider audience.

The actual announcement was somewhat sparse in details – the skate. Twitter account released a short but clear message, “PC_confirmation.exe”, as well as a short video clip of a skateboarder jumping over a PC with the game title “skate.” displayed on its monitor.

In the past, EA Black Box developed the Skate series exclusively for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, in order to take advantage of the controller joysticks. Due to the nature of skateboarding tricks requiring directional analogue sticks, the Skate series never was ported to PC. However, with the recent release and success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 on the PC last year, there may be hope for respectable keyboard and mouse support.

Ever since the last release of Skate 3 in 2010, EA has stayed silent about the future of the Skate series. Even after the first announcement of the fourth game in the Skate series, the Skate team has released very few details about the upcoming game.

Still, the recent Tweet confirms at the very least, something for PC gamers to get excited for. As the previous three Skate games had never gotten a port or release on PC, this new release is certainly very exciting – and may open the possibility of getting ports of all three older titles if reception is positive.
