Evil Genius 2 Is About to Make Consoles a Lot More Villainous

Ready to Cause Some Chaos?

The utterly maniacal Evil Genius 2 is making its way to consoles by the end of 2021. The supervillain-themed base management game has been available on PC for some time, so buyers need not wait until after release to find out if theyโ€™d like it. The reviews are in, people love the game โ€“ and now, that adoration need not be locked behind a PC.

Evil Genius 2 is coming to Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S consoles.

The base-building/tycoon genre isnโ€™t one commonly supported by larger game publishers, but is one with a dedicated player base โ€“ if those players happen to reside on consoles, theyโ€™ll greatly enjoy the added choice in what game they get to play.

And Evil Genius 2 is certainly a strong contender: the aesthetic of the game is as powerful as it is dastardly, with players taking charge of minions and henchmen, foiling the plots of do-gooders, and expanding their evil empire in a quest for world domination. Itโ€™s a stark departure from the usual themes of most other tycoon games: Planet Coaster, for instance, has players in the role of a park designer, with the goal of making the most attractive rides possible. Planet Coaster is emblematic of a trope within the genre โ€“ in the end, the playerโ€™s goal is to make random NPCs as happy as possible.

But the most famous stories from these games are anything but โ€œattractiveโ€. The classic โ€œMr. Bonesโ€™ Wild Rideโ€ story, or all the โ€œexperimentsโ€ people run in various Sims titles, show that players are more than willing to get a little maniacal with their creations. Evil Genius 2 is a game that taps into that exact desire, and now players of all backgrounds can have a chance to live that fantasy.
