WWE 2K22 Reveal Trailer Released After Almost Two Years from 2k20

WWE 2K22 Trailer Looks Good, But Can the Game Deliver?

WWE 2K22’s release date has been announced in its first trailer during the SummerSlam 2021 event.  Fans have been anticipating the release of the newest 2K WWE game ever since WWE 2K21 was canceled last year in favor of WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a more arcadey spinoff to the WWE series.

Although WWE games usually release in October of each year, fans may be disappointed to find out that WWE 2K22 will release in March of 2022.  As such, WWE 2K22 will mark the first release of a WWE game from the main series since WWE 2k20’s disappointing release almost two years ago.

In 2021, it was announced that 2K21 would not be released partly as a result of the poor reception of 2K20.  Other than this short trailer, there are no details about any of the gameplay mechanics, game modes, or roster.  Although the trailer does not show any gameplay, the graphics do look much better, with improved animations and textures.

The lack of gameplay or details for 2K22 is especially concerning, considering the launch state of 2K20, which was riddled with bugs and poor graphical models. Hopefully, the extra time from the delayed game launch will give more time to iron out bugs and graphical details.

2K hints towards a vastly upgraded game with the description “WWE 2K22. It Hits Different. Crowd popping, chills inducing, it’s back this March 2022 redefined from the ground up.”  It is unclear whether this will lead to upgraded and innovated gameplay and graphics.
