The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf Hits Netflix in August

Big news out of WitcherCon this past week. We got our first trailer for The Witcher season 2 from Netflix, as well as news about the PS5/Xbox Series X|S upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We also have a release date for the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Netflix released a short teaser for the upcoming animated film. Nightmare of the Wolf will follow the origin story of Vesemir, a Witcher that is a mentor and father figure to Geralt and the other Witchers, though the trailer does not give many hints as to what the plot of the movie will be.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

Kim Bodnia has been cast as Vesemir in The Witcher season 2 and will be providing his voice in the role for Nightmare of the Wolf, so we can assume that the two are directly connected. Watching this will undoubtedly help fans of the TV series understand Vesemir before the season 2 premiere in December.

The teaser shows us brief glimpses of what creatures Vesemir will be up against, including a werewolf and a swarm of bats. We also see him go into Witcher mode as Henry Cavill does in the live-action show.

The trailer is short and does not show us all that much, so hopefully, we will see a lengthier trailer before the film is released. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will premier on Netflix on August 23rd. The Witcher season 2 will premier on December 17th.
