Help Test New Console Features Before the Next Major System Update
There’s a new major system update for the PS5 on the horizon, and Sony has decided to give PS5 owners the opportunity to help test it out. As of today, you can now sign up for the first-ever PS5 software beta program. The program is open to anyone over 18 and located in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France. If you decide to participate, you’ll have the opportunity to help put new features to the test and have your voice heard when providing feedback to the developers. Of course, signing up doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be selected, but you definitely won’t be chosen if you don’t sign up.
Selected participants will receive an email containing instructions on how to download the beta version of the updated system software. To qualify, you’ll need a PS5–obviously–with both an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account. If this all sounds a bit inconvenient and annoying, don’t worry, you won’t have to go through it again. If you sign up for this beta, you’ll be automatically added to the selection pool for more PS5 system software betas in the future. And if you’re unsure about leaving your PS5 with the updated system software, you can reset your device to the latest official release version after the beta period is over.
The last major PS5 system update in April introduced a plethora of new features including USB extended storage, cross-generation Share Play, an improved Game Base, and a bunch of other UI enhancements and social features, and while we don’t know exactly what’s contained in this update, we’re sure that it will continue in a similar vein. Now’s your chance to experience all that the PS5 is capable of early. Don’t miss out.
