Here’s What’s Coming to PlayStation Plus Next Month

You’re in for a Head-Smashing Time

The PlayStation Plus games for April 2021 have just been announced, and it looks like you’re in for a treat – especially if you’re a fan of zombies.

Firstly, the one we already know: Oddworld: Soulstorm, the latest game in the series (albeit a reimagining of the classic Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus) will be translating Abe’s second adventure for modern consoles, upgrading the graphics and gameplay elements, while drastically increasing the number of mudokons following you at any one time. Fans have been promised the chance to pick their playstyle, so whether you want to stealth your way through or take a more violent path, you have options. One of the biggest changes is a shift from the classic 2D, and the 2.5D from the first game’s remake Oddworld: New’n’Tasty, to what developers are calling 2.9D, making the world more dynamic than ever. The caveat is that the game isn’t available for PS4 owners, or players from South Korea, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates.

Second is Days Gone, which PS5 owners will already have access to as part of the PlayStation Plus collection. This open-world adventure is part The Last of Us, part Red Dead Redemption, putting you in the shoes of awesomely named biker Deacon St. John as he explores the zombie (well, freaker. A lot of games don’t use the Z word.) infested Pacific Northwest, trying to find his place in a world that’s changed drastically – and come to terms with the death of his wife.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

Last but not least is Zombie Army 4: Dead War, which is set in an alternate universe where World War II was complicated by the arrival of, you guessed it, zombies. Things are taking more of an occult turn, however, as among the enemies you’ll face is a newly resurrected Hitler, fresh out of hell and looking for action.

It looks like there’s a lot to chew on this month, and while Oddworld: Soulstorm is likely the most exciting, given that it’s being released on the same day, even PS4 players will have the chance to play one of the console’s best games.
