Revelio
Itโs no secret that Harry Potter has taken a big hit in the popularity sector ever since JK Rowling revealed her questionable views on the trans community โ and, in the UK at least, spent years bashing political leader Jeremy Corbyn, drawing the ire of some fans โ but for a whole generation of kids, Harry Potter was the book series. Weโve seen video games, spin-offs, movies, broadway shows, and even a theme park based on the Wizarding World, and things donโt look to be slowing down.
Weโve already written about a TV show allegedly being in early development with HBO (although HBO themselves denied this claim, stating โThere are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform.โ)but it looks like we might have more to look forward to, as WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar has talked about possibly expanding the franchise, stating that thereโs a lot of potential for further sequels and spin-offs.
Speaking to the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Conference, Kilar said โThereโs this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises, and weโre incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue thereโs lot [sic] of fun and potential there as well.โ
Unfortunately, Kilar didnโt go into any specific detail about any of the upcoming projects. Outside of the broad discussions about a TV show, we donโt know anything about where the series is going next that we didnโt already know, such as the upcoming Hogwarts: Legacy or the third film in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series.
While fans are moving on from the franchise, and others are calling on the series to be cancelled alongside JK Rowling, it looks like thereโs still some people eager to explore the magical potential of Harry Potter. Are you one of them? Let us know in the comments, on Twitter, or on Facebook.
