Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace Creeps Onto PC and Consoles

Life is a Hideous Thing

Horror fans, tabletop gaming fans, 1920s pulp fans, Cthulu mythos fans, rejoice! Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace is creeping onto PC and consoles today, bringing with it bloodstains, distant screaming, and the ever-present weight of despair. In this game, a simple murder investigation goes off the rails when the victim is revealed to be deeply entrenched in the occult–and not the fun fortune-telling and seance kind of occult. No, we’re talking sanity-stealing rituals, apocalyptic cults, and inviting terrible things from beyond this reality into our vulnerable universe. The Ancient Ones are preparing their return, and they aren’t planning to stop in for tea. Your investigation team is all that stands between humanity and total ruin. Let’s hope you’re ready for this challenge.

In this turn-based, narrative-driven, tactical RPG, players form a party from twelve iconic characters from the Arkham Horror board game and attempt to solve the murder, unravel the mystery, and prevent the end of the world–all in glamorous and grimy 1920s style. Explore classic Lovecraftian settings like Miskatonic University and the original non-Batman Arkham Asylum. Use a variety of magic, physical attacks, ranged weapons, and items to combat cultists and monsters while keeping your sanity at manageable levels.

If you enjoyed the board game, then you’ll probably love this adaptation. Same goes if you love the 1920s pulp aesthetic or the Cthulhu mythos in general. It’s shaping up to be a fun, creative outing into the dark side of twentieth-century America. So come on, Lovecraft fans, what are you waiting for? The stars are finally right and these trailers look awesome.

Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace is now available on Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch at a price of $17.99 / 17,99 €. PlayStation Plus members can purchase the game at a 20% discount for the launch celebration.
