Devs Say Theyโll Work Hard to Translate the Game in the Future
Tale of Immortal dropped on Steam last week, and itโs already proven to be a big hit, rocketing up to the top of the Most Popular and Top Seller charts worldwide. During peak hours in China the game is managing a staggering 176,000 concurrent players โ more than heavyweights like Grand Theft Auto V or Apex Legends.
The game is the latest in a new genre of cultivation sims โ RPGโs inspired by the popular Xianxia genre of Chinese literature where you ascend to Godhood through training, adventuring, and meditation. Unfortunately, the game is only available in simplified Chinese right now, so if you were hoping to check the game out for yourself โ especially after seeing its meteoric rise through the charts โ youโre out of luck, at least for now.
Still, it looks like weโll get a translation in the future โ or, at least, that itโs something that the devs are looking into. According to a forum post in December by dev and Steam user MidnightCerealKiller, theyโre aware of the challenges of translating such a text-heavy game into different languages, but itโs something theyโre working hard to implement.
โThe amount of words in the game and their difficulties could be very time-consuming,โ MidnightCerealKiller wrote, โbut we will work hard to have at least English localization in the future!โ
Is it confirmation? No. This is a small team, after all, and ultimately we have to look at whatโs feasible as much as whatโs possible, but it proves that this is something theyโre looking into.
Tale of Immortal is currently in early access, with a full release due out in around a year โ is this the release window for the translation? Possibly. The good folks over at PC Gamer have approached Lightning Games for comment, but havenโt received anything quite yet.
